Terms of service

Who we are

PokeScan is operated by Martijn Veenstra, sole trader (eenmanszaak) registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 42120153. Contact: martijn.veenstra84@gmail.com.

The service

PokeScan is a web app that reads Pokémon GO status screenshots on your device, keeps your roster and battle log, and helps you plan teams. The free version includes scanning, the roster, teams, the battle log and sync across devices with an account. The AI features (team and battle reviews by Professor Cedar, the AI coach, and Professor Cedar reading screenshots and battle recordings) run on credits. Every account gets 3 free credits to try them; PokeScan Pro is a paid subscription that adds a monthly credit allowance, and Pro members can buy credit packs.

Credits

Price and billing

Pro costs €4.99 per month including VAT, unless a different price is shown at checkout. Payment and billing run through Stripe. The subscription renews monthly until cancelled. Prices can change; if the price of a running subscription changes you are told at least a month ahead and can cancel before it applies.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time via Manage or cancel your subscription on the Pro page, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Pro then stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and no further payments are taken. When Pro ends, the unused monthly credits end with it; bought credits stay. There are no cancellation fees.

Right of withdrawal (EU)

EU consumer law gives you 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Pro and credit packs are digital services that start immediately: by subscribing or buying a pack you expressly consent to delivery starting at once, and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once you use credits from that purchase. If you withdraw within 14 days without having used any credits from it, e-mail martijn.veenstra84@gmail.com and the payment is refunded.

Fair use of the AI features

Credits are the budget for the AI features. To keep the service healthy there are two safety limits on top: a short burst limit (about 30 requests a minute per account), and a daily limit on what the AI may cost the service in total. When that daily limit is reached, the AI features pause for everyone until midnight UTC; nothing is charged while they are paused. The app tells you when you hit either limit. Automating, scraping or reselling the AI features is not allowed.

Your data

How your data is handled is described in the privacy policy. Short version: scanning happens on your device; sync stores your game data under your account; the AI reviews send the content you submit (a team or battle summary) through our server to the AI provider named in the privacy policy, and the server does not keep it. You can export or delete your synced data at any time from the account box in the app.

Acceptable use

Don't break, overload or probe the service, don't upload anything unlawful, and don't use it in a way that violates the game's terms with respect to other players. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service; an active subscription is refunded pro rata if we end it without cause on your side.

Liability

PokeScan is a hobby-scale tool offered as-is. The scanner and the AI can misread or be wrong — check important calls yourself; team advice is advice, not a guarantee of wins. To the extent Dutch law allows, liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes to the service or these terms

The app is actively developed; features evolve. These terms can change — the date above moves and material changes are pointed out in the app. If you do not agree with a change you can cancel before it takes effect.

Law and disputes

Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, without limiting your rights as an EU consumer to sue where you live. You can also use the European online dispute resolution platform.
